Top Five Best Camaros Ever

In chronological order, we give you the top five best Chevy Camaros of all time.

1967 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28: The Camaro began as a viable Pony Car option to the Ford Mustang in the early 60’s. By 1967, Chevy added the Z/28 package that included a 4.9L V8 engine with 290 HP, specially-tuned handling suspension, four-speed Muncie transmission and Rally Sport (now referred to as Bumblebee) racing stripes. Built to qualify in the Trans Am series race, only 60 were made because the car was virtually unheard of, now making it one of the most sought-after vintage muscle cars on the planet.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1: This engineering marvel was voted the best Chevrolet of all time by an AutoWeek poll. The huge big block L88 427 engine (dubbed ZL1) was built mainly of aluminum for lighter weight handling, provided 430 to 550 HP, and exceptional performance. Again, Chevy cranked out only 69

1973 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28: The 1973 Arab Oil Embargo wrought a number of changes to the world-wide political spectrum as well as an oil crisis followed by the US pulling out of the Bretton Woods Accord (which changed the dollar from the gold standard to a fiat currency) resulting in the worst stock market crash since the Great Depression. Before new government regulations could go into effect, Chevy’s last muscle car for years to come rolled off the assembly line. Equipped with a Corvette 350 V8 engine gushing 360 HP and European-inspired body styling, the 73 Camaro Z/28 would be the last truly powerful Camaro for more than 30 years.

2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS: The age of the Retro cars dawned and with it came the Camaro SS with a hauntingly-familiar menacing look of its predecessors packed with a 6.2 litre V8 engine. Married to an automatic tranny provided 400 HP while a manual transmission provided 426 horses and 420 pound/foot of torque. Appearing for the first time were ‘Sport Mode’ and ‘Launch Control’. Camaro fans were ecstatic while a whole new fandom of Camaro lovers was born.

2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28: The Crème de la crème of the retro ball, this Camaro is the most track-ready of all with a 7.0 litre LS7 V8 engine and a walloping 505 horses offering 481 pounds/foot of torque. Does it get any sweeter? Weighing in at 300 pounds less than the 2013 ZL1, this Z/28 out performs and out distances it’s cousins as well its competition.
