Classic 1967-1969 Camaro Clutch Pedal and Linkage
The clutch pedal linkage assembly on a late-1960s Chevy Camaro can consist of several mechanical parts, and sometimes, even a few hydraulic ones. If your classic is running a mechanical linkage, it likely combines a clutch pedal and either a series of linkage rods and arms or a cable. If the linkage is hydraulic, more than like, it had a clutch master cylinder and reservoir, plus a hydraulic line and slave cylinder.
What a clutch linkage actually does, however, is take the force of stepping on the clutch pedal, transmit it to the clutch fork connected to the the clutch pressure plate, and multiply the force. Put simply, the assembly enables the clutch to work properly, and when it does, you can effectively change gears while accelerating or braking. Simply press the clutch pedal, and the engine and transmission temporarily disengage; this smooths out the gearshift process.
When a clutch assembly doesn't work properly, however, the sports car you love won't run right. If you think yours has problems (and especially if it's been improperly adjusted), there are signs that'll tell you so. They include a stiff pedal, a stuck or slipping clutch, a worn throw-out bearing, problems shifting, and a loose, worn-out, or otherwise missing engine or transmission mount. If you know you've got a bad one, we have what you need to repair and restore it, whether that's clutch parts or complete clutch linkage kits.
